Speaking

Cole has experience speaking to varied audiences across North America and Europe, in both digital formats and at in-person events with attendance in the thousands. To view a selection of the events he has spoken at, you can visit his Basic Bio page. He prioritizes interactivity and questions. With his unique experience across a range of disciplines, and in the ‘bridges’ between both the public and private sector, he has spoken on topics including:

  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence;
  • Organizational transformation and systems change;
  • Entrepreneurship, feedback and failure;
  • Technology and innovation;
  • Education and media environments.

He is particularly adept at exploring complex connections between these topics, and how they impact the state of the world today and in the future. Many of his past clients invite him back repeatedly to address different aspects of topics.

Because of his range of experience, Cole describes himself most often as a ‘comprehensivist,’ a term popularized by cross-disciplinary designer and inventor of the geodesic dome Buckminster Fuller. Cole defines a ‘comprehensivist’ as being an intentional and focused generalist, as opposed to a specialist. Other collaborators and publications have described Cole as an ‘educational futurist,’1 ‘systems theorist,’2 and ‘inventor.’3

Cole views each event as an opportunity to visit even topics he is deeply familiar with, and often conducts extensive further research to bring fresh iterations to past ideas. He is happy to speak at all types of events where his schedule permits.
